Opeyemi Akeredolu is a multicultural education advocate, literacy educator, and Youth Ambassador with the World Literacy Foundation, committed to ensuring that every child has access to meaningful, equitable literacy experiences regardless of their language or background.

She is the founder of The Bilingual Way, an initiative that bridges children’s home languages and English to strengthen literacy development in underserved communities based in Nigeria.

Opeyemi has trained more than 100 teachers through in-person and virtual professional development on practical, evidence-based reading instruction, including Jolly Phonics. She has also sold over 300 decodable storybooks designed to help young learners develop strong foundational reading skills while making literacy engaging and accessible.

Passionate about multicultural education and educational equity, Opeyemi believes that every child’s home language and culture are valuable assets for learning rather than barriers to success. Through research, teacher development, and community partnerships, she advocates for inclusive classrooms where multilingual learners are empowered to read with confidence, develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, and thrive academically

Through her work, she supports teachers and school leaders in designing culturally responsive, research-informed literacy practices that connect children’s linguistic and cultural identities with English phonics instruction, improving vocabulary, reading comprehension, and reading for meaning in multilingual classrooms.
